1999 – 2002: Central St Martins School of Art BA (HONS) Printed Textile Design
1997 – 1999: Southwark College BTEC National Diploma Art and Design, A Level Textile Design, A level fine art
I graduated as a mature student from Central St Martin’s School of Art shortly after the turn of the Century. My early career included internships with leading interior magazines such as World of Interiors, House & Garden, and BBC Good Homes. I went on to work as a freelance designer for an interiors company, a freelance prop buyer for television, a part-time sales assistant at The Conran Shop, a volunteer art group facilitator—and even as a nanny.
In 2011 I departed London and devoted my energies to a detailed and sympathetic restoration of a 16th-century cottage in Oxfordshire, during which time I also became a mother. A move to Shropshire in 2018 brought another renovation project, this time an old house with onsite holiday cottages. Once more my creative energies have been fully invested in the design and presentation of both the main residence, and the holiday accommodation.
More recently, I spent a fulfilling 18 months exploring ceramics at the Claypit in Oswestry. But throughout this period, the desire to paint was quietly building, and at the end of 2024 it became impossible to ignore. A local painting class opened the floodgates, and since then I haven’t been able to stop!
Painting is an emotional and meditative process for me. It creates a sense of calm and offers a way to express feelings where words fail. What appears on the page is a revelation—pure emotion translated through a visual language that bypasses linear thought. My inspiration is drawn from the natural world: flowers, leaves, colour, texture, and form. I currently work in acrylics and mixed media, and my output is prolific, reflecting how essential the act of painting has become to my wellbeing and creative identity.
Colour is hugely important in my work. My colour palettes shift with my mood, serving not just as aesthetic choices but as a personal language—one that helps me create a sense of calm, evoke emotion, and invite the viewer into the inner world from which each piece emerges.
